Grey skies have clouded most of Sydney in the early parts of Saturday, with coastal areas experiencing 20mm of rainfall, but the Bureau of Meteorology expects the weather to clear up around ANZ Stadium just in time for the start of the game at 2.45pm.
Since 9am areas west of Sydney, including Sydney Olympic Park, have experience around 5mm of rainfall.
"The game might be perfectly timed," Rebecca Kamitakahra told AFL.com.au.
"We're expecting maybe another one or two millimeters of rain during the game, but there is a clearer patch moving over the Sydney basin, so they could get a decent amount of sunshine for the start of the game."
With a heavier band of showers due to move out to the west from the coast later in the day, there is a chance that the weather could take a turn for the worse.
But that rain band isn't set to hit areas west of Sydney until around 4-5pm in the afternoon.
Fans can expect a top of 18 degrees at the ground.
