Despite a slow start to the year, the Swans have had a big week on the training track and will be aiming to return to their best against an in-form Dockers outfit.
Speaking to the media with Fremantle’s Tendai Mzungu ahead of tomorrow’s Redkite Cup match, Laidler said it would take a team effort to turn the side's early season form around.
“We know we’re not all playing the way we want to, so it’s going to take 22 contributors against Fremantle,” he said.
“As long as we play as a team and there’s 22 contributors it will go a long way to winning the game.
“We haven’t had the greatest start but we do know what’s needed to bounce back.
“We’ve had a really good week of training, we know Fremantle are a quality side so it’s going to be a great challenge for us.”
The last time the two teams met it was Fremantle who claimed victory at Perth's Patersons Stadium, earning themselves a place in their first ever Grand Final.
Despite the recent result, and the Swans’ indifferent start to the season, Mzungu said his side were expecting the Swans to come out firing from the opening bounce.
“We’ve always had some tough games against Sydney, they’re a really tough opposition, they’re well coached and well led,” Mzungu said.
“The heat’s been on them but a proud club like Sydney will respond and we know that.
“It’s up to us to come out prepared, we can’t be surprised with the start, they’re going to come out red hot.
“We’re not going to be surprised you’d hope, about the start, it’s going to be game on and a really intense battle.”
The Swans and Fremantle will be playing for more than four points tomorrow with the two clubs also vying to take home the Redkite Cup.
Since 2008, the Swans and Fremantle have played for the Redkite Cup in support of charity partner Redkite, who assist children, young people and their families through the cancer journey.
“We’re really looking forward to playing for the Redkite Cup against Fremantle tomorrow,” Laidler said.
“Redkite is a great organisation and they do so much for kids and their families living with cancer and it’s something the club is really proud to be part of.”
