It's a new year and the Swans boys are back on the track.

As always, the off-season and Christmas breaks proved a popular time for weddings amongst the Swans crew.

Over the off-season Rhyce Shaw, Heath Grundy and Lewis Roberts-Thomson all tied the knot, while over the Christmas break assistant coaches Stuart Dew and Henry Playfair celebrated their respective weddings, albeit on the same day. Joining the newlyweds sometime soonish will be defender Ted Richards, who chose the unique location of Central Park, New York to pop the question to his partner Ella. According to Richards, another two proposals took place in the Park as he readied himself to take bended knee.

Youngster Brandon Jack created his own headlines over the last week - quite literally - penning an insightful piece on his Tumblr account on the nasty spate of ‘coward punches’. Jack’s thought provoking piece was consequently picked up by the Sydney Morning Herald, sparking much discussion on the important issue. Jack is a smart cookie and his thoughtful prose contained no fewer than five words the Swans media department have never heard of.

Hats off to Brandon, he is passionate about the issue and hopefully society can make some ground in this area and stop the unnecessary violence on our streets.

There are always some creative #hashtags used amongst the players, but #bluebottleforehead is the best of 2014 thus far. This was new recruit Jeremy Laidler’s retort to Luke Parker’s offering of #facelikeadroppedpie, and referenced Parker’s run in with a blue bottle during a late December fishing trip.

The SwansTV offices are always buzzing this time of year with plenty of new material being workshopped. Some internal pilot screenings were held last week with a new series on players and their pets scoring rave reviews amongst focus groups. First up on the series will be Sam Reid and his French bulldog Frankie. Look out for it in the next few weeks on SwansTV.

Probably the most talked/joked about item on social media during the pre-season is the players’ use of orange ‘sports bras’ as seen in many of the training pics. Snippets can confirm to the many who have enquired, that the orange bibs are indeed used to support GPS units, rather than any body part.

Swans fans have been given a sneak peak of Jude Bolton preparing for his new off-field role as Membership Ambassador. As you can see in the video, Jude has a bit to work on when it comes to his new gig (be it Ambassador or acting), but one such talent who took to the acting task like the proverbial Swan to water was baby faced, over officious intern Scott Dalby, who when he is not starring for SwansTV, plays a semi-convincing role as Human Resources Manager at the Club.
