Bio 

By the time the VFL was formed, Herb Howson had been playing for South Melbourne in the VFA for six years. From the formation of the VFL to his retirement in 1908, he played 152 games for the Club. He captained South Melbourne in 1906, and coached the Club in 1918 and 1919, winning a premiership in his first season as coach.
