Bio
Graeme John commenced his senior career with East Perth, debuting as a 16 year old in 1959. During his five seasons with the Royals, he represented Western Australia on four occasions. Moving to Melbourne to play with the Swans, Graeme’s playing career with the Club spanned the years 1964 to 1969, during which time he played 77 games and kicked 97 goals playing at centre half-forward. Named All-Australian in 1966, he also represented Victoria in State football in 1965 and 1966. He was appointed Coach of South Melbourne in 1973, a position he held for three years. From 1978 to 1980 his service to the Club continued in the role of Club President. In 2000 he was appointed as a Commissioner of the AFL.
