Be it signing autographs or posing for pictures, Adam Goodes is used to making Swans fans giddy.

But this week, the tables were turned on the 331-game superstar when he came face to face with Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

Goodes, a Manchester United fanatic, had the rare opportunity to sit down and interview the Red Devils star ahead of Saturday night’s clash against the A-League All-Stars, thanks to Channel 7.

Sworn to secrecy about the chat for a few days, Goodes took to Twitter immediately afterwards saying “I haven’t been this giddy since I met @iamwill last year @SCG and showed him around Sydney. #littlekid #pumpedup #biggestfan."

In a broad ranging 20-minute chat, the two champions talked all things from Sydney’s famous landmarks to coaching transitions, books, brothers and racism.

Ferdinand offered to use his remarkable base of 4.4 million Twitter followers to help lift Goodes’ comparatively humble figure of 25,000.

The interview can be seen during Channel 7’s coverage of the Manchester United v A-League All-Stars match on Saturday night. The interview will also be available on SwansTV soon.
