It feels like the season has only just started, but we’re already up to round four!
It’s taken me a while, but finally here’s the first Richards Report of the season.
Tasmania
It is always great to win interstate, and last weekend was no different. We had great support down in Hobart and we were very excited to fly back to Sydney with the win.
As happens from time to time, a few shoes may have got misplaced or lost their laces on the flight, but with the Geelong-Carlton game live on the in-flight TV, most guys had already shifted their focus and were watching on the game with interest in preparation for next week.
New lockers
Over the course of the last few months, certain parts of the football club have undergone renovations or have been upgraded. The players have been fortunate enough to be the beneficiaries of most of the works, and an area we are really enjoying is the new change room and the new lockers.
With the new lockers coming in, the club has decided to auction off our old lockers this week. I’m sure they will all been cleaned and empty for the winning bidder, but you never know! Maybe you might find something accidently left over from a previous owner, which could include:
- Hair in Jude Bolton’s locker including both the tipped (early 2000’s) and natural colour varieties (current day)
- Hipster vinyl music in Tony Armstrong’s locker. Yes, the type of music that people don’t even pay 20c at a garage sale for.
- 'Never been in fashion' clothing in Adam Goodes locker.
- Lululemon yoga pants in Mike Pyke’s locker
- “Cleo Bachelor of the Year - How to vote” cards in Nick Smith’s locker.
The initiative is so popular that current players, and ex players are also considering bidding on the lockers too. All money raised will go towards funding the new renovations that have been going on here at the club.
Membership Record
It is great news that the club has broken the previous membership record so early into the season. Thanks to all our members who have signed up, whether you’re in Sydney or another part of the country, and thank you for supporting the club.
You can click here if you’d like to sign up.
Thank you
I’d like to say a massive thank you to the cheer squad and all the people that help put the banners together every week. The players really appreciate the work you put in every week for us, and I’m especially grateful for the banner made for my 150th Swans game in round 2.
Song of the week
The band Phoenix (arguably my favourite band) are about to release a new album. This song, ‘Entertainment’ is the first single released from the album. It’s a good song and I’ve noticed that Channel 7 have already started using it in certain parts of their football coverage.
Not for the first time, I’ve got no idea what’s going on in the music video so don’t judge the song on that.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Dan Hannebery who signed a three-year deal, securing him to the club until the end of 2016. The coffees are on you this week, Hanners!
Round 4
We’ve got Geelong on Friday night at the SCG. When we played Geelong on the SCG last year it was a fierce contest and we’re expecting nothing different this time. We’re expecting a packed house so make sure you arrive early to secure your seat. Hope to see you there!
