Tippett stops Magpie midfield clean sweep
Kurt Tippett was the only Swan to receive a vote from the coaches as Collingwood’s midfield dominated
Scott Pendlebury (ten votes), Luke Ball (six), Dane Swan (five), Dayne Beams (three) and Brent Macaffer (three) all dominated the possession count or their direct opponent on Saturday night and feasted on the bulk of votes from the coaches.
The saving grace for the Swans from a Magpie clean sweep of the votes was spearhead Kurt Tippett, who finished the game with six goal from 13 possessions and six marks and earned himself three votes.
Sydney Swans co-captain Kieren Jack, who had his colours lowered by Macaffer on Saturday night, still holds a five vote lead over 250-gamer Gary Ablett, who failed to register a vote in Gold Coast’s win over Melbourne in round 20.
Collingwood’s Pendlebury, Geelong’s Joel Selwood and Western Bulldog Ryan Griffen all received the maximum 10 votes in round 20 and have closed the gap on Jack at the top of the leaderboard.
