Tippett profiled
Sydney Swans recruit Kurt Tippett opens up about his move to Sydney in Fox Sports' Profiles this weekend
The short documentary, which also focuses on living with team mate Dan Hannebery in Bondi and his coaching role at the QBE Sydney Swans Academy, sees Tippett talk about his decision to leave the Crows for the Swans at the end of the 2012 season.
"It was a tough decision to leave Adelaide. I'd been there six years and it wasn't a decision I made overnight,'' Tippett said..
"I understood at the time my decision wasn't going to please everybody and that's hard because I like to please people.
"That whole time is a bit of a blur, a crazy time, an emotional time...
"(But) that experience was great for finding out who your close friends and family are. And you obviously learn a lot about yourself."
Tippett, who is now eligible for selection after serving an 11-game suspension for contract irregularities with the Crows, talks about the string of concussions he suffered last year and the impact they had on his decision to continue his footballing future elsewhere.
"It sort of makes you think a bit about your life (and) maybe (become) more aware of what I was doing outside of football,'' he said.
"You've got to be living a fairly balanced lifestyle because if you're all caught up in football and that's taken away from you, you've got to have something else to go on with.
"From that time onwards I was thinking about my future and where it would go and what it would be like.
"I wanted to put myself in a spot where I'd feel I'd be most happy and as a result get the most out of myself as an athlete. That was probably the biggest reason behind my decision.''
Profiles: Episode 2 which features Kurt Tippett and South Sydney's Greg Inglis will premier on Fox Sports 1 HD on Saturday June 15 at 9:30pm.
Tippett is not the first Swan to appear on Fox Sports this week, with Swans co-captain Kieren Jack the special guest on Fox Footy's On The Couch program last Monday night. The interview with Kieren can be watched in the video player above.
