Sydney Swans defender Callum Mills has been lauded for his performance in Sunday’s loss to Richmond receiving the full 10 votes from the coaches.
Mills gathered a career-high 29 disposals – 15 of those intercept possessions – and nine marks in the wet at the Gabba.
While Sydney coach John Longmire and Richmond counterpart Damien Hardwick didn’t see eye to eye on some things after the match, they did both agree with Mills being best on ground.
It’s the first time that Mills has received the full 10 votes from the coaches and showcases his improvement as a player in his fifth season of AFL football.
Robbie Fox (3 votes) who played an important lock-down role on Tom Lynch was the only other Sydney player to receive votes in the match.
Kane Lambert (5 votes), Jayden Short (4 votes), Nick Vlastuin (3 votes), Jack Graham (3 votes) and Kamdyn McIntosh (2 votes) shared the remaining votes for Richmond.
Mills also moved to fifth position in the Carey-Bunton Medal, awarded to the best NSW-bred player for the season.
Isaac Heeney continues to lead that award on 19 votes, with Dane Rampe in seventh position on six votes.
