SYDNEY Swans coach Paul Roos has called on the League and the AFL Players' Association to reveal the names of any players who have already signed with Gold Coast for 2011.

Newspapers reports earlier in the week suggested that up to six players had committed to the new franchise next year, despite being contracted to their current AFL clubs for 2010.

Roos said that if the reports were correct and the AFL approved of Gold Coast's approaches to current players, the League should publish the names of the players involved.

"My message is that if the AFL and the AFL Players' Association are saying that it's within the rules and there's nothing wrong with it, [then] come out and tell us who the players are," he said.

"If you're ashamed of it and you want to hide behind it, then obviously they think there's something wrong with it as well."

Roos said he had no idea whether Swans players had been involved in discussions with Gold Coast and admitted that he only became aware of the potential for mid-season poaching on Wednesday.

But he was strongly opposed to any of his players signing with the new club before the end of the 2010 season.

"I certainly wouldn't be happy if a player had signed 12 months out from my footy club," he said.

"The argument from the players' association is reasonably flimsy - the fact that they're (Gold Coast) not in the competition and you're not playing against them.

"The reality is, they are a team. They mightn't be playing this year but they'll be playing next year."

Having seen at close quarters the disharmony caused in the NRL when players announced mid-season that they would join an opposition club, Roos said the AFL should do everything possible to avoid that scenario.

"We have been in the fortunate position where we haven't had to deal with that situation that clearly has become a bit uncomfortable for rugby league people and obviously of recent times for the A-League," he said.

"Whether they have [signed] or haven't, I'm not sure but I think it's something that appears to have come into the game that shouldn't have.

"If anyone is prepared to put their hand up that has signed, it will be interesting to see what happens."
