I'll play anywhere: Schneider
The pacy Swan won’t mind drifting back to fill in for injured Tadhg Kennelly
SYDNEY Swans star Adam Schneider thinks he might be spending more time in the defensive half of the ground, after the knee injury to teammate Tadhg Kennelly.
But the thought doesn't bother the gifted left-footer one little bit.
Schneider spent parts of last week's 49-point win over Melbourne in the back half - a part of the ground with which he became very familiar last season.
He drifted forward in the last term to boot a goal and fill a role in which footy fans are more accustomed to seeing him - a goalsneak.
But the pacy sharp-shooter said he was happy playing anywhere on the field, as long as he was part of the Swans' 22.
"It doesn't worry me, I just love playing anywhere really," Schneider said.
"Playing up forward's good because I did that when I was younger, and played in the midfield a fair bit too.
"I played down back on the weekend and if this weekend I have to go back because Tadhg's out then I'm more than happy to.
"I'm not too sure what Roosy's got in mind, but I'd like to have another chance down there."
Schneider said Kennelly, who is out for up to a month with a knee injury, would be missed after the Irishman had started the season in superb form.
But he said Kennelly’s absence would open the door for another of the Swans' promising youngsters, who are getting itchy feet in the reserves with several big wins in the AFL Canberra competition.
"Nick Malceski's in great form down back and so's Craig Bolton," Schneider said.
"It's going to give a couple of young guys a good opportunity now to get a chance and play a couple of games. They've been playing great in the twos.
"I think at the weekend they won by 30 goals or something like that, so it's going to be a good opportunity for the young blokes and I'm sure they'll step up to it."
Schneider said the Swans wouldn't be underestimating the Kangaroos this week.
"I watched the game on Sunday and they were in really good form," he said.
"They ran really hard and their pressure was really good. You can't take them lightly on their day and they showed that on the weekend by beating Geelong."
