Round 19 v Carlton
Sydney Swans midfielder Ryan O’Keefe celebrated his 250th game with a 22-point win over Carlton at Etihad Stadium in round 19, but a knee injury to veteran Jude Bolton soured the result.
The 32-year-old hyperextended his knee late in the third term and was consequently subbed out of the game.
On field, the Swans midfield again dominated the stoppages led by Dan Hannebery (31 disposals and two goals), Jarrad McVeigh (28) and Kieren Jack (26), while back-man Ted Richards kept the Blues’ big forwards out of the game.
Following a closely contested first quarter, a four goal surge in the second term gave the Swans the edge in the second half.
Up forward, Ben McGlynn (3 goals), Lewis Roberts-Thomson (2 goals) and Adam Goodes proved to be potent for the Swans.
