SEVERAL key Swans are under injury clouds ahead of next Saturday's clash against Adelaide at the SCG.

Already Michael O’Loughlin has been ruled out with an ankle injury, Leo Barry is battling a hamstring complaint, Adam Goodes is nursing a sore groin and Ryan O’Keefe had painkilling injections in his knee to continue playing in yesterday's two-point win over Carlton.

Nick Malceski is no certainty to play either, as he battles an ongoing calf injury.

“Mick [O’Loughlin]definitely won’t play this weekend but Ryan O’Keefe looks pretty good today and Leo Barry will probably miss,” Sydney Swans coach Paul Roos said.

“Barry is 50:50. The fact that he came off [on Sunday] was probably a positive because he didn’t do too much damage, so he is a bit of a chance but doubtful. The others will be fine.”

Roos said Goodes injured his groin at training on the Friday before the game and was unable to play with his usual freedom.

“It flared up on Friday at training, and he couldn’t play as well as he would have liked on Sunday, but hopefully that will get better this week and he will be a lot better on Saturday night.”

But the prognosis for Malceski is not so bright.

“Nick Malceski is definitely a lot better so than last Friday so we will know later in the week whether he is available,” Roos said. “The injury is at the top of his calf and it is something that we don’t want to risk. The fact that he has had a knee injury means we tend to take that into account. We don’t want him to aggravate his injury and miss a significant amount of games.

“He has been able to train a bit but we are just a bit reluctant and wary of the injury to push it. We are hoping he will be okay this week.”

Roos paid tribute to both Goodes and O’Keefe for playing out Sunday's match.

“It was credit to both of those guys that they played on and maybe in different circumstances they would have certainly spent more time on the bench and maybe not come back on,” Roos said. “It was a significant victory against a team that was young and fresh and had all their players up and going.

“It was a pretty good effort to come back from a five-goal deficit early on in the second quarter and in the last 45 minutes we had two less on the bench and two injured on the ground. So it was a great effort by the players."
