SWANS backman Tadhg Kennelly is set to defy medical logic by returning early from a knee injury for Sunday's clash against ladder leader Port Adelaide.
The Irishman has spent the past two weeks on the sidelines after dislocating his knee in Sydney's round-five win over Melbourne.
The standard recovery time is six to eight weeks but the dashing defender has convinced the Swans' brains trust to name him in the 25-man squad.
The 11th-placed Swans (3-4 win-loss record) are keen for Kennelly to be back at the SCG this weekend to combat the speedy Power outfit through his trademark rebound out of defence.
"It will be handy ... my word," Roos said of Kennelly's inclusion.
"Tadhg seems to be feeling pretty good. It is a just a matter of how he goes in terms of his training."
The 2005 premiers have well and truly come back to the field in Kennelly's absence, losing consecutive matches to the Kangaroos and St Kilda.
Roos said Kennelly and Sean Dempster would be welcome additions for this weekend.
"It would be good to get both (Sean) Dempster and Kennelly in the team because they have got a pretty quick side and both of those players run and carry the ball and use the ball pretty well," he said.
"They are pretty versatile defenders who can play on small and talls and that does make us a lot more flexible down back."
The premiership mentor lavished praise on the high-flying Power (6-1) who were convincing winners in their trip to Sydney in round two last year.
He believed their star-studded midfield was up there with West Coast as the premier on-ball brigade in the competition.
"The Eagles (and Port) in terms of personnel are probably the best two quality midfields in the competition so they are very talented and our guys know they are in for a real challenge," he said.
"We just need to improve on our last few weeks regardless of opposition. We want to … get back to playing good footy and tough footy and hard footy, that is a real focus for us."
