JPK gives sydneyswans.com.au his thoughts on season 2010, his season highlight and what he thinks can be achieved in 2011...

What was the high point of the season for you Josh?
The highlight was definitely the Carlton final. It was my first final and I was physically spent and it was complete ecstasy when we won.

Playing well in the finals - the first finals you’ve ever played - must give you a lot of confidence for next year?
It is really good to be able to finish the season off like that personally and have that as a lasting memory going into the pre-season and next season.

To think back to where I was this time last year to now, I couldn’t be happier.

As far as the team goes, there were a number of senior players injured during the year. Given that, how do you rate the team’s performance, and what do you think can be achieved in 2011?
Kirky is obviously going to be a massive hole to fill but he’s really the only player that has retired, along with Henry Playfair who retired a little while ago. Apart from that we still have our main group of players who will stick together hopefully for the next few years.

Having had the experience of the finals this year and just getting pipped by the Dogs, we should be able to build on it, and with a full strength side have an impact, not just make up the numbers.

The narrow loss to the Dogs was something I will put away for the next few months and draw on it throughout the pre-season.

Which of your team-mates do you think really stood out this season?
To me Benny McGlynn did. His impact in the first few weeks of the season surprised a lot of people. I just love the way he plays, and I love playing with him.

Kieren Jack’s second half of the year was outstanding, the way that he has improved and now become a really elite player in the AFL.

How can you get better next year?
I think with another pre-season. This coming one will be my first full one, touchwood, if I get through it. Usually I have come back slowly and started late, so it will be a bit different.

And just the confidence from the last two games will help me, knowing I can really mix it.

What are you doing in the eight week break?
I will go back to Melbourne for a week or so. I’m not in a real hurry. Shane Mumford and I are moving into a house together in Sydney so we have to sort that out and we’ll spend a few nights out and about enjoying Sydney!

We have the best and fairest on the 1st of October and then the next day about eight of us are leaving for LA and Las Vegas for a couple of weeks. That will be very good.

And then I’ll come back and I might go to the Spring Carnival in Melbourne. You’ve got to have things to look forward to at this time of year!
