Kieren Jack’s goal in the second quarter of yesterday’s 11-point loss to Fremantle has been awarded the SwansTV Play of the Day for round 17.

Trailing by 19 points on the stroke of half time the Swans needed a lift, and a great team goal converted by Jack gave them a the perfect finish to the first half.

Rhyce Shaw fired out a handpass to Jack in the middle of the ground who kicked the ball inside 50 to the leading Sam Reid. Reid was unable to take the mark, but a front-and-centre Dan Hannebery twice handballed the ball forward, with the second reaching Jack who had continued his run forward.

On a tight angle for a left-footer, Jack made no mistake with his shot on goal and kicked his fifth goal in four games.

Jarrad McVeigh’s spectacular final quarter banana from the opposite forward pocket hasn’t been overlooked, with the kick receiving a Goal of the Year nomination which you will be able to vote on through sydneyswans.com.au later in the week. Click here to view McVeigh’s goal.
