The Sydney Swans will go into their big match against Geelong with an unchanged side.

Swans coach Paul Roos said the team had been playing well until last Sunday’s disappointing loss to Melbourne.

“Obviously we didn’t play well but that’s not a consistent thing. We won the previous two games,’’ Roos said.

“I think it’s good for the players to get a chance to go out and have another crack at it.

“Last week we only had four or five players who played well, but the week before we had our best game for the year so we’re not out of form, and we see no need to make changes,’’ Roos said.

The other factor was that the Swans Reserves had a bye last weekend, so none of the players there had the chance to press for selection.

“That impacted on their opportunity,’’ Roos said.

He said the Swans had not done the basics at all well against Melbourne. “The basics haven’t changed in 100 years. If you don’t win the ball and don’t tackle, it’s impossible to win games.

“But we’ve seen this year that teams can recover their form by applying pressure.’’

The Sydney Swans take on Geelong at ANZ Stadium at 7.10pm on Saturday night.
