Bolton to face test
Swans veteran Jude Bolton will face a fitness test ahead of Saturday's game against Geelong
Sydney Swans veteran midfielder Jude Bolton will face a fitness test ahead of this weekend’s final round clash with Geelong at Simonds Stadium.
Swans physiotherapist Matt Cameron confirmed to SwansTV that if Bolton gets through this week’s training schedule, he will line up for the Swans this Saturday afternoon in Geelong.
“Jude is going well,” Cameron said.
“He had a small skills session on the weekend with some of the other players who weren’t selected and came through that well.
“He’s got his first team session today and then the main session on Thursday, and if everything goes well then he’ll be playing.”
Bolton has been sidelined for three weeks after hyper-extending his knee in the Swans’ win over Carlton in round 19.
Cameron said since the incident, the 32-year-old has done everything right to ensure he made his return to the field as soon as possible.
“Right from the outset when things may have even (looked) worse, he’s been really positive and determined to get back earlier than any of the predictions we first came up with,” he said.
“He has approached everything through his rehab like that and he hasn’t missed a beat.”
In other injury news, Swans defender Campbell Heath and forward Trent Dennis-Lane have received good news following respective injuries in the reserves final against Ainslie last weekend.
Cameron said Heath and Dennis-Lane’s fitness would be tested later this week, but expects both players to be available for selection this weekend.
“They have both pulled up pretty well,” he said.
“Campbell Heath sprained his ankle but he’s now jumping around today, although he won’t train.
“If he gets through training OK on Thursday, then he’ll be OK to play.
“Trent just bent his knee underneath him and gave it a bit of a stretch. If he improves in time for Thursday then he’ll be made available.”
Meanwhile, Swans ruckman Mark Seaby has experienced another setback following a calf scan earlier this week.
Cameron said Seaby was at least another week away from returning to regular training.
“(Seaby) is up and running again but he hasn’t joined team training yet,” he said.
“We did scan him again this week and we’ve just seen enough on the scan to hold him back for another week before letting him loose.
“At the moment he certainly is a little bit frustrated but we’re hoping to have him back into the group next week.”
