The Sydney Swans will be keen to mirror their form from the last time they met the Gold Coast last season at Metricon Stadium.

The visitors flew home with a 70-point win over the Suns in round 16 last year, led by co-captain Jarrad McVeigh who finished the match with 27 possessions and three goals.

The Swans 15.16 (106) kept the Suns to 4.12 (36), which was the Gold Coast’s lowest score of their inaugural season.

The Swans led by 22 points at the first change, thanks to terrific work up forward from Sam Reid who kicked two goals in the term, and two goal assists to co-captain Adam Goodes.

Sydney also dominated possession in the first quarter, leading the Suns 115-93.
The Suns made a small comeback in the second term, with David Swallow scoring two successive goals, but the Swans turned up the heat after half time, kicking six goals to one to win by 70 points.

Swans midfielder Ryan O’Keefe finished the match as the team’s leading possession getter with 31 disposals for the match, while Sam Reid created momentum early for the Swans and contributed three first half goals.

Teenage midfielder Luke Parker also made the most of his opportunities, notching up 26 touches and two goals as a late inclusion for Jude Bolton, who was ruled out with a knee complaint after the warm up.

Luck didn’t go the way of the Gold Coast on the injury front, with Suns captain and star player Gary Ablett being subbed off in the second quarter with a knee injury.
