Teenager Kieren Jack will make his senior debut against the Kangaroos on Saturday night at Telstra Dome in what coach Paul Roos calls a 'really significant' moment in the Club's history.

Jack, son of former Australian Rugby League fullback Garry, was promoted to the senior list yesterday with Lewis Roberts-Thomson on the long term injury list.

Jack comes in for Tadhg Kennelly who is out for 4-5 weeks with a knee injury.

The Swans also welcome back Amon Buchanan after he missed the Melbourne win with a knee complaint.

Roos is excited at the prospect of watching the tough 19-year-old.“Kieren will definitely be playing this week which is a credit to him, it is a great story and a great effort and we are really looking forward to seeing him play Saturday night,” Roos said prior to training on Thursday afternoon.

“We have included Monty (Buchanan) in to play and Jarred Moore out, but similar to last week if Monty doesn’t come up Jarred will play.

“Luke (Ablett, who hyper-extended his knee last weekend) has been named and he is a real chance to play. He has already run tonight and he feels pretty good so hopefully he will be fine.”

Jack’s role in the team will be determined when the final make-up of the side is known, but he is likely to be used as a small defender or on wing - either way his dad will be excited.

“Garry rang me last night and he was very excited which is great,” Roos smiled.

“And it was really heart-warming to hear a Rugby League legend talking about how proud he is of his son and of him to be pulling on the Swans jumper. It really hit home to me how far we have come as a footy club from the early 80’s.”

“It is probably something that is really significant in the history up here that we now have got a fella who is the son of an absolute legend in Rugby League.

“Garry’s athletic ability and his courage has definitely been passed down to his son. It is an amazing story.”

Meanwhile, the Kangaroos have made one change with youngster Jesse Smith returning from a badly injured ankle at the expense of Kasey Smith.
