'Swans Snippets' is a new weekly column, full of tidbits from around Swans HQ...

The players were like kids in a candy store last Friday morning, when three new, very shiny Volkswagen vehicles greeted them for training at Lakeside Oval. The cars were part of a photo shoot for the Daily Telegraph, announcing the Club’s new four-year deal with the internationally renowned automotive group. Rhyce Shaw did some fine work, testing the stereo and horn of the new Amarok, while country-boy Gary Rohan looked right at home in the tray of the big ute.

The usually mild mannered Mark Seaby was seen letting off some steam at training last week after fumbling a footy.  The Sydney heat, and the sleepless nights thanks to new bub Eva Seaby had apparently caught up with the gentle big man.

Avid fans of The Richards Report would have learned this week about the team’s recent Zumba workout. Turns out, so taken was Adam Goodes with the latin-dance fitness phenomenon, when it got to the end of the session he pleaded, “Just two more songs?’’ And then Adam decided to run the Indigenous All-Star squad through their Zumba paces as they prepared for their - (eventually cancelled) - match against Richmond on Friday night in Alice Springs.

Goodes, Lewis Jetta and Byron Sumner spent last week at the AFLPA’s Indigenous Camp, based at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence in Redfern.  Sumner was particularly complimentary of the week, describing it as one of the highlights of his career to date. He had the honour of leading the players in their war cry. Check out the pics on the website and Facebook.

The lobbying of Swans staff by players has begun. Players have been dropping in to offices all over the Swans building bearing gifts, wild promises and one question….Am I in your Dream Team? Sam Reid may have a bit of trouble being picked up because, courtesy of his impressive Round 22 debut in 2010, he’s pretty pricey. But hey, we think he’s worth it!

It was great to see promising youngster Campbell Heath make a surprise appearance at the team photo shoot last Tuesday and again at training this morning. Heath underwent LARS surgery on his injured knee on Monday, but fronted for the all important team shoot in good spirits.  He was already putting weight on the knee, less than 24 hours after the operation, and said it was vastly different to the way he felt two years ago after conventional surgery on the same knee. Heath’s younger sister has arrived from Victoria to give him a helping hand with the household duties while he recovers.

Kieren Jack’s younger brother Brandon might one day join him at the Swans after being inducted into the QBE Sydney Swans Academy last Thursday night. Brandon is 16 and plays at Westbrook, which is in the Swans zone. He’ll train with the QBE Academy’s development coaches two nights a week. Proud father Garry Jack now has two sons playing AFL, something we bet he never imagined when they were born!

Daniel Bradshaw and his wife and four kids are house-minding Brett Kirk’s abode while the Kirk family jaunts around the world on behalf of the AFL, on Captain Kirk’s odyssey. The Kirk gang were last heard of having a ball in Sri Lanka, and the Bradshaws are loving the seaside location.
