Gary Rohan had the honour of rolling the dice to launch the Sydney edition of the Monopoly board game, which will be released later this year.

Rohan joined Lord Mayor Clover Moore, Winning Moves Business Development Manager Reid Herbert, and of course Mr Monopoly at Circular Quay's Cruise Bar this morning for the announcement.

Set to include iconic Sydney streets such as Oxford Street and George Street, Herbert said the game could also include one of the city’s favourite sporting teams.

“For too long we believe Sydney has been living in London’s shadows, so we thought it was about time this beautiful city of ours had its own version of the iconic family board game,” he said.

“Be prepared for some great surprises in store on the board and not just what you’d expect to see in terms of iconic Sydney places and landmarks like the Rocks and Kings Cross, but other things that say so much about what Sydney-siders love such as our very own footy team, the Sydney Swans.”

Rohan said he hoped to see the Swans take over some of the prime real estate on the Sydney Monopoly board.

“Hopefully we can slot onto the Mayfair square or one of the other big name spots on the board,” he said.

“Wherever we are, to be included in Sydney’s first ever Monopoly game is a huge privilege for the club.”

Monopoly is the most played board game in the world today and is enjoyed by over 500 million people in 111 countries, and is played in 43 different languages world-wide.
