The players have been divided into groups to visit thirteen different locations around NSW as part of the Telstra AFL Community Camps programme. Some of the players have checked back in with an update on how day one of their visit has gone…

Nick Malceski

"As soon as we arrived in Bathurst we headed straight to our Auskick clinic where there were lots of kids and we got to help out with the activities. There was no rest because we then visited some of the local schools; it is always great to be able to visit regional schools as we obviously can’t do that during our season. Tonight we have an Awards night that we are dressing up for. Matty O’Dwyer, Jake Orreal are here with me."

Lewis Roberts-Thomson

"The locals of the Illawarra region have given us a very warm welcome to town. The hospitality has been first class and the beaches are jaw-dropping. The new recruit, Trent Dennis-Lane, the other hyphen, has been the star of the show and a huge hit with the kids. I’ve also got Mike Pyke and Henry Playfair down here with me. Our schedule is jam packed with plenty to do and lots of smiling faces to see."

Ted Richards

"Patty Veszpremi’s and my first stop was at a clinic at Loseby Park in Bowral, it is the only AFL ground in the Southern Highlands region. We had a good turn out and it was great to get amongst the action. We stopped by the local milk bar and then got to have a kick of the Sherrin with the local kids. Later in our day we visited Coco Vale Primary School and had a chat with more of the local kids there."

Jarred Moore

"Kieren Jack and I have arrived to some amazing weather in Tamworth. We visited two different schools upon arrival and then took part in a well attended Super Clinic. Kieren and I played a few different games with the local kids but we had to stop because the kids were taller than Kieren. We have a dinner tonight with some of the school representatives as well as local footy coaches and then a gala day to attend tomorrow."

Jude Bolton

Camp has been great so far, I think we have got the pick of the locations - Coffs Harbour. We have visited a heap of schools this afternoon; the kids really do like their AFL even though it is a league stronghold. One of our new recruits Sam Reid towers above the kids, so they love him. I let them know about how Sam had his first tough training session today before we flew up here and ended the running session throwing up. Kristin Thornton and Daniel Currie are also up here with me.
