Round 16 v West Coast
The Sydney Swans ended West Coast’s 18-game winning streak at home to retain top spot on the AFL ladder at Perth’s Patersons Stadium.
The impressive 52-point win was the Swans’ sixth consecutive victory over the Eagles.
Despite a slow start - again conceding the opening three goals - the Swans bounced back in emphatic fashion kicking 18 of the next 25 goals led by Lewis Jetta with four.
Ruckmen Shane Mumford and Mike Pyke (who kicked a memorable, dribble goal) were crucial in the match, nullifying the influence of star ruck duo Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui.
Dan Hannebery (42 possessions), Kieren Jack (29 disposals and nine clearance) and Ryan O’Keefe (29 touches, including 17 in the third-quarter) were instrumental in the crucial win.
