Tim Barron and his six Maroubra Saints footy club mates will not miss a minute of Swans action next season, thanks to an ingenious idea from mum Marita.

Instead of a conventional Christmas gift, Marita got together with the other boys’ parents to buy them each a Swans membership for the 2013 season.

Marita said the Swans memberships will ensure that Tim and his friends will always have someone to attend the football with next season.

“I thought it was a great idea because they all play AFL and they all go for the Swans, so I thought they weren’t going to go to the games one out, but they are likely to go more than two or three out,” she said.

“Because the boys really, really like AFL and they love the Swans I thought if they go with their mates they’re going to have a much better time.”

“The boys went a lot of times last year, and their fathers held family memberships so they shared tickets and they did actually go quite a bit.”

While the boys’ memberships won’t be mailed out until the New Year, the Swans Membership team were able to work with Marita to ensure the boys would have something to get excited about under the tree this Christmas.

“I coordinated the whole thing and it just worked,” Marita said.

“Bec (from Swans Membership) sent out a gift certificate to show that we’ve got the membership for Christmas, and then when all the membership stuff comes in, we will receive it in the New Year.”
