One week from today, the Sydney Swans will join forces with Citi to hold a lunch to celebrate milestones achieved as well as milestones that will be reached in season 2009 for four senior members of the team.

Each year there are milestones, but this year is special given the three co-captains Brett Kirk, Adam Goodes and Craig Bolton have significant ones, along with great Club favourite Michael O’Loughlin.

Kirk (200 AFL/Swans games) and Bolton (150 AFL) played their milestones together at Subiaco Oval against Fremantle. The result didn’t go the Swans’ way but the following week in front of a home crowd at the SCG, the result was much better and the two were chaired from the ground in honour of their achievements.

Goodes is set to reach his 250th game milestone, all things going to plan, when the Swans take on Geelong at ANZ Stadium in round 20.  He then will have played the fourth greatest  number of games for South Melbourne/Sydney Swans, only behind Michael O’Loughlin (297 currently), John Rantall (260) and Mark Browning (251).

Not to over-shadow the co-captains, but O’Loughlin is sure to steal the show, given his impending milestone combined with the recent announcement that this season will be his last.

The silky-skilled forward (again assuming all goes to plan) will play his 300th game against Richmond at the MCG in round 19. He is already the games record-holder for the Club but will also become the first South Melbourne/Sydney Swans to play 300 games. Add to this he will be only the third Indigenous player to reach the mighty milestone.

The three co-captains and O’Loughlin will be on the stage during the lunch to be interviewed by MC Mark Beretta, and will also be joined by other special guests throughout the afternoon.

The Sydney Swans Citi Corporate Lunch is an initiative of the Sydney Swans and the Club’s major partner, Citi, and it is a great opportunity to bring together like-minded business-people who have a passion for AFL.

There will also be a special auction item which is sure to get plenty of attention. When tickets to AC/DC’s Black Ice tour of Australia went on sale in May, box office records around the country were broken! AC/DC’s concert tickets were declared the fastest selling tickets – ever – in Australia. Those at the lunch will have the opportunity to bid on a fully catered corporate suite for 20 people at the first AC/DC concert at ANZ Stadium on Thursday, February 18, 2010. Corporate Suites usually sell for around $13,500 however no boxes or suites are available for purchase to the AC/DC concerts.
