CEO statement on SCG redevelopment
The Swans are pleased that Stage Two of the SCG redevelopment works will proceed ...
The SCG Trust in conjunction with State and Federal Government has today announced that the Bradman, Noble and Messenger Stands at the SCG are to be re-developed in 2012.
As we understand it, this is the second of three stages in the masterplan for the redevelopment of the SCG.
In the future this will include new training and administration facilities for the Sydney Swans and the QBE Sydney Swans Academy. It will also involve improvements to the broader SCG precinct which will mean better pedestrian and traffic flow.
The NSW Government has previously also announced plans to develop a light rail service which will significantly boost public transport to the SCG precinct.
We welcome this redevelopment as a significant step towards our members and fans being able to watch the Swans play at a world class venue.
Today’s announcement does, however, mean significant work will be undertaken at the SCG. The Board and management of the Sydney Swans would like to reassure all our stakeholders we have already initiated discussions with the SCG Trust to ensure there is minimal impact on our members and fans.
For now I offer the following key points, and we will share more information as soon as we can.
1. If you are a member currently, or were in 2011, your access to the football is guaranteed
2. All matches scheduled for 2012 will go ahead
3. We will meet with the SCG Trust to determine the timing and specific impacts of the redevelopment. Our first priority is to minimise any impact on the match day experience for our members.
We will continue to share information as we can through direct communication to our members, and via the website.
