THE Sydney Swans reserves will play their match tomorrow against Tuggeranong on the Lakeside Oval, opposite the SCG, starting at 2pm.
The match was originally scheduled to start at 4.10pm on the SCG as the curtain raiser for the main match between the Swans and Carlton, but constant rain in Sydney this week has led to the re-scheduling.
Fans are still welcome to watch the match. Lakeside Oval is best accessed through the gates opposite the Swans offices at Light Tower 4 of the SCG.
The Swans general manager, football, Dean Moore, said the decision was made in conjunction with the SCG and the AFL. “After discussions with the SCG ground management and the AFL it was agreed to re-locate the reserves NEAFL game against Tuggeranong,’’ Moore said.
“We were all concerned to make sure the centre wicket area of the SCG was in the best possible shape for the main game between the Swans and Carlton, given how much rain there has been in Sydney this week.
“Fortunately our reserves are able to play across the road on a quality surface at Lakeside Oval, where we train all through summer, so fans can still watch our young boys play before they head across the road to the main fixture,” Moore said.
The gates to the SCG will open at 4.05pm as originally scheduled. Fans won’t be able to access the SCG before then, even though the reserves are now starting on Lakeside Oval at 2pm.
The reserves squad for tomorrow’s game at Lakeside at 2pm against Tuggeranong is:
B: Thompson, Johnston, Wales
HB: Sumner, Roberts-Thomson, McKaigue
C: Murphy, Parker, Brain
HF: Gordon, Currie, Lamb
F: Dennis-Lane, Haren, Pyke
