Ruckman Shane Mumford is a chance to play this Sunday after he was named in the 25-man squad for the game between the Swans and Carlton at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium.

Swans coach John Longmire said Mumford would need to get through tomorrow’s final training session before being named in the 22-man team, to be announced on sydneyswans.com.au at 5pm tomorrow afternoon.

“He’s been able to do everything this week and his last piece is to make sure he trains really well, pulls up well from training, and hopefully, fingers crossed, if that happens he’ll play,” Longmire said.

Longmire said there is a chance Mumford, Mark Seaby and Lewis Roberts-Thomson could all play against Carlton, but a final decision would not be made until after training tomorrow.

“We’ve obviously had discussions about it (playing all three talls), we’ll sit down again after training and discuss Mummy and how he went and about how the mixture looks,” he said.

“We’ve been rucking essentially Seabs the last few weeks, with Lewis Roberts-Thomson as a back-up, and they’ve been doing a really good job for us.

“In the end, Shane Mumford is a very good player … do we go tall or do we leave one of them out? That’s one of the discussions we’ll have.”

After the Blues came from 17-points down at the midway stage of the third quarter to record a victory in the two teams’ round six encounter, Longmire said a full four-quarter performance would be required to win on Sunday.

“What we did last time (against Carlton), was we played for two-and-a-half quarters … and we really dropped away pretty dramatically after that,” he said.

“We need to make sure we maintain our intensity - which was really good for two quarters last time - and we’re confident we can get a result.

Last weekend’s victory over Richmond signalled the halfway mark of the season, with Longmire pleased with the progress the team has shown so far.

“We’ve won the games we should win, which makes a difference at the end of the year, and most of the players are in pretty good form,” Longmire said.

“But, we’ve got a big test this week against Carlton. We know that they’re a genuine top four team at the moment. They’ve got some great talent and they’ll really test us out.”

Jarred Moore and Paul Bevan have also been included in the squad after strong recent showings in the Swans reserves.
