Daniel Hannebery has had a later than normal return to pre-season training after an accident over the Christmas break.

He was out with some friends just after Christmas when he unfortunately tripped over a fence and fractured his cheekbone.

It resulted in a minor operation for Hannebery, and the recovery process has resulted in him being unable to fly back to Sydney from his family home in Melbourne until this weekend.

The eighteen-year-old has been able to maintain his running programme and will resume pre-season training with the team on Monday.

“I am disappointed that my pre-season has had this interruption. I was feeling good before the break and wanted a good start to the new year,” Hannebery said.

“I am eager to get back to Sydney and join the rest of the team in pre-season training.”
