THE Sydney Swans have selected exciting forward Jed Lamb with pick 21 in the 2010 National Draft.

Lamb, 18, hails from the country Victorian town of Yarram.

Joining Lamb at the Swans will be Luke Parker (pick number 40) a midfielder from the Dandenong Stingrays, Alex Johnson (pick number 57) a defender from Oakleigh Chargers/Hawthorn Citizens and Matt Spangher (pick number 73) a defender from the West Coast Eagles.

Lamb is noted for nouse around goal and was the most accurate kick measured at the 2010 AFL Draft Combine and has been likened to West Coast Eagles livewire Mark LeCras.

Swans coach John Longmire said Lamb was a player with many strong attributes.

“Jed is a very smart player. He's a good mark for his size, creative, and very good in one-on-one contests whether in the air or on the ground. And he can kick goals too,” Longmire said.

“He has played in the midfield and at half back and could fill a number of different roles for us.

"With our first selection at number 21, our plan was simply to pick the best player available, rather than a particular type of player."

There were few surprises in the first round of selections, with the Gold Coast Suns holding the majority of picks, including the top three.

Highly touted midfielder David Swallow was as expected, selected by the Gold Coast with the coveted number one pick, followed by Harley Bennell and Sam Day.
