It was good to finally get a win at the SCG on Saturday night against Port Adelaide.
When other clubs come to the SCG, we want them to be afraid to come here because of the noisy crowd, and for them to know it’s always going to be a tough game.
It is a different feeling playing on the SCG to other grounds. When I get the ball and run down the wing, the crowd is just so loud, even if it’s only 20,000 like on Saturday night, it feels like 30 or 40 thousand. It’s good that it is so wide. Even though it’s short, it’s wide and I love wide ovals because it give you space to run on the wings.
I was happy to get another goal on the board last week. I’ve been practicing my set shots a lot from that angle. I don’t know if you will remember, but last year when we played the Hawks, I kicked my first goal after 19 points for the year. The crowd was amazing that day.
I’ve kicked two goals already this year so I won’t need to worry about that this Sunday.
This week is Indigenous round in the AFL, which is pretty exciting. It’s going to be a good game and I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to the challenge because Hawthorn are going well at the moment.
I like watching all Indigenous players. You can learn a lot just watching the way they go about things on the footy field. Lance Franklin from the Hawks is just a freak, sort of like Goodesy, but Goodesy is better! He is tall but he still has pace. He kicks his goals right to left, which is a bit of a freakish style.
I like Roger Hayden (Fremantle) and Aaron Davey (Melbourne) a lot, because they always hit targets, even when they are under pressure. That’s where I want to get my skills to.
Hopefully all of the fans get out to Sunday’s match. I hope we can get over 30,000 and that they are even louder than they were last time we played the Hawks at the SCG.
