Sydney Swans defender Dane Rampe has produced a long list of outstanding games since donning the red and white ahead of season 2013.
Set out below is a list of arguably the best 10 games played by Rampe, who on Friday has inked a contract extension.
The vice-captain has signed a new three-year deal to link himself with the Swans until at least the end of 2022.

North Melbourne, Docklands

Rampe was instrumental as Sydney grinded out a 16-point win over North Melbourne in Round 11, 2015. The Swans had the measure of an ominous Kangaroos forward line stamped with towering trio Ben Brown, Drew Petrie and Jarrad Waite, with Sydney’s defenders taking 23 first-half marks and 53 for the game. Rampe carried the mantle in the Docklands clash, posting 26 disposals, collecting 14 marks and helping Heath Grundy and Jeremy Laidler keep Brown, Petrie and Waite to just one goal between them. Rampe also teamed up with Rhyce Shaw to keep a lid on VFL/AFL games record-holder Brent Harvey. The former rookie’s rock-solid performance earned him 30 Club Champion votes and helped the Swans to a sixth-straight win.

West Coast Eagles, SCG
Sydney Swans 10.12 (72) def. West Coast Eagles 7.15 (57)
West Coast arrived at the SCG for Round 13, 2018 as the competition’s ladder-leader, but Sydney would stun the eventual premier in a 15-point victory to snap a 10-game Eagles winning streak. Rampe tallied just 11 possessions in the Swans’ sixth win in a row, but the 28-year-old finished with eight one-percenters, recorded a disposal efficiency of 91 per cent and limited juggernaut Eagles forward Josh Kennedy to two goals. Rampe’s all-important contribution saw him register one Brownlow Medal vote and 34 Club Champion votes.

Rampe was enormous as the Swans cruised to their biggest win of their 2017 campaign in Round 21, a 104-point victory over the Dockers at the SCG. Rampe gathered 25 touches, six marks and seven rebound 50s, while he operated at a disposal efficiency of 84 per cent. The match marks Sydney’s lowest total of points conceded since defeating Melbourne in Round 13, 2016. Rampe’s starring performance earned him one Brownlow Medal vote and 45 Club Champion votes.

Rampe starred as a surging Swans outfit, recovering from an 0-6 start to their 2017 campaign, stormed to a fifth-straight win to clinch a top-eight position for the first time in the season. Rampe finished with 25 disposals at an efficiency of 88 per cent in the SCG clash, as well as 13 marks and six rebound 50s. He earned one Brownlow Medal vote and 45 Club Champion votes as the Swans snared a 67-point win.

Rampe fired in Round 1, 2016 as Sydney charged to its biggest opening-round victory since defeating Adelaide by 90 points in 1996. Rampe collected 17 disposals, amassed eight one-percenters and helped Grundy limit two-time All Australian forward Travis Cloke to just one goal as the Swans recorded an 80-point win. Rampe was rewarded with 44 Club Champion votes.

Rampe was on song in Round 18, 2015 as the SCG drew its biggest crowd of the AFL season. The ever-reliable defender netted a career-high 32 disposals at an efficiency of 84 per cent, as well as 12 marks, nine rebound 50s and six one-percenters in front of a 38,690-strong crowd. Rampe registered 40 Club Champion votes as the Swans bagged a 52-point win.

Wild wet weather made for a defender’s dream conditions in Round 11, 2016, and Rampe grabbed the chance with both hands in the Metricon Stadium fixture. The All Australian backman reeled in 23 possessions, seven rebound 50s and nine one-percenters, while he kept star Gold Coast forward Tom Lynch to just one goal. Rampe accrued 45 Club Champion votes in the Swans’ 38-point victory.

Rampe is a big-game player and he showed exactly that as the Swans booked a ticket to the 2016 grand final. The New South Welshman accumulated 26 disposals at an efficiency of 92 per cent, as well as 11 marks, 13 rebound 50s and 11 one-percenters in the MCG showdown with the Cats. Rampe’s glowing performance helped the Swans to a 37-point win and earned him 45 Club Champion votes.

Rampe played a crucial role as the Swans, despite their 0-6 start to their 2017 campaign, snatched a top-four spot for the first time in the season against the Crows in Round 22. Rampe gathered 16 disposals and six one-percenters as Sydney banked a 10th win from its last 11 games, but his job on gun Adelaide forward Taylor Walker was what impressed most. Rampe restricted the Crows skipper to just one goal and 13 touches in the Adelaide Oval clash, and he polled 46 Club Champion votes for his colossal performance.

In arguably the best game of Rampe’s 138-match career, he posted 23 disposals at an efficiency of 91 per cent, as well as six marks and eight rebound 50s as the Swans trumped the Cats in Round 16, 2016. Rampe also helped Grundy keep All Australian forward Tom Hawkins to just two goals, putting himself on the path to a career-high two Brownlow Medal votes and 49 Club Champion votes in the 38-point win.
