Emerging midfielder James Rowbottom is striving for further consistency in his game after a breakthrough season which saw him take out the Most Improved award.

In just his second season at AFL level, Rowbottom played 16 of a possible 17 matches in 2020 averaging 15 disposals and 4 tackles per game.

At just 20-years-of-age the hard-bodied midfielder pushes himself to the limits to get the most he can out of himself.

Rowbottom hopes to continue his constant improvement throughout next season.

“I am hoping to pick up where I have left this year,” Rowbottom said.

“Looking to continue to get games as an inside midfielder and keep moving onwards and upwards chasing the guys like Joey (Kennedy) and Parks.”

“The aim is to get to where those guys are at on a consistent basis.”

Rowbottom said it was important that he continued to look after his body now he was beginning to play more time through the midfield.

“This has been my first full year as a midfielder so it has been pretty challenging on the body so it becomes important that you recover,” he said.

“We have some good facilities so I just need to make sure I am doing what I can to keep on top of any niggles I may have.”
