The 2012 Sydney Swans Fan Day has been a huge success with over 1,500 people coming through the gates of the SCG to meet the players and coaches.

Pleasant blue skies greeted the kids and adults who made the most of the players’ attendance with autograph signings, the Big Kick and Volkswagen Putt-Putt golf among the kids’ favourite activities on the day.

Two supporters - Winsome McPherson and Anne Powell - were lucky enough to be driven to Fan Day by Jude Bolton, Brett Meredith, Shane Mumford and Jack Lynch in the impressive Volkswagen Multivans.

“I’m going to get used to the players driving me to matches,” Powell joked.

One of the most popular attractions at Fan Day was the Media Zone where supporters got to go behind the microphone and ask their favourite players some hard hitting questions as if they were on SwansTV.

The players were questioned on all things on and off the field from favourite grounds, rule changes, match preparation, funniest teammate, and even player nicknames.

The Media Zone was a great opportunity for fans to find out more about the players and they certainly made the most of it.

To conclude the day, coach John Longmire presented the 2012 playing list to the crowd and thanked everyone for their support on the day and for the season ahead.

“It’s fantastic to see so many people here today, dressed in red and white and supporting the Swans,” Longmire said.

“The Fan Day is one of our favourite events in the pre-season calendar and the players and coaching staff really enjoy meeting our fans.

“You are all critical to the success of the Swans and we hope to see you supporting us this year.”

For Swans midfielder Jude Bolton, Saturday’s Fan Day was extra significant as he got to bring his eight-week-old daughter, Siarra, along to her first official Swans function.

“We’re really happy with the turnout today and to see so many people come out for the event was just amazing,” Bolton said.
