The Sydney Swans have made further changes to the club’s playing list ahead of Wednesday’s list lodgement deadline.
Zac Foot, Jackson Thurlow, Robbie Fox and Sam Gray have been delisted. Gray is contracted for the 2021 season and the Swans are expected to redraft the experienced forward in the rookie draft in December.
Fox was recruited to Sydney with pick 34 in the 2016 rookie draft and played 38 games in the red and white over four seasons. Away from the field, the versatile Tasmanian has been an ambassador for Sydney Swans partner Black Dog Institute.
Foot was among Sydney’s 2020 debutants, managing two games this year. After being recruited to the club with pick 51 in the 2018 AFL Draft, the 19-year-old played his first AFL game in Sydney Derby XIX in Round 12 at Optus Stadium. He also featured in Sydney’s game against the Dockers the following week.
Thurlow was traded to the Swans from Geelong ahead of the 2019 season. The defender played 17 games in the red and white over two seasons, for a career tally of 63 games.
Sydney Swans Executive GM of Football Charlie Gardiner has thanked the players for their service.
“Robbie, Zac and Jackson have all been outstanding people to have around the club and have made a contribution both on and off the field, so these were tough calls to make,” Gardiner said.
“The uncertainty surrounding the make-up of lists has made this period particularly challenging and all three have handled the situation with great character and maturity.
“On behalf of everyone at the Swans, we want to thank them for their hard work and dedication, and wish them all the very best for the future.”
