As 'The Final Quarter' went to air on Channel 10 last night, social media was filled with plenty of commentary around the confronting documentary.
#TheFinalQuarter trended at #1 nationally on Twitter and the Club asked those watching to show their support for Adam Goodes through reposting an image with the #WeStandWithAdam. This hashtag also trended on Twitter and there was plenty of response from viewers across all social media channels. Fellow AFL Clubs reposted this as well as other codes with the Wallabies and the Melbourne Storm showing their support too.
In what was a tough two hours of viewing for many, it was amazing to see social media feeds filled with supportive messages for our Bloods Legend.
Here is a snapshot of tweets from media personalities, athletes and fans.
As you watch #TheFinalQuarter please show your support for Goodesy with posting this image with #WeStandWithAdam.

Adam Goodes. A great Australian.

Hope many got to see @TheFinalQtr and sat there with an open mind and reflected upon what sort of country we want Australia to be.

Doesn’t get any easier to see what Goodesy endured. He did it with grace and dignity.
The boos lasted for too long, his legacy... longer. #Warrior
What an amazing and powerful story! Adam is an amazing role model and leader!! #TheFinalQuarterFilm

It will be difficult for many of us 2 get 2 sleep 2night. Hearts will still be racing from what what we're watching. Know as you lie in bed, that ur are not alone in wanting a better country, free of racism.#WeStandWithAdam#IStandWithAdam#TheFinalQuarter#RacismItStopsWithMe

Congratulations to the filmmakers of #TheFinalQuarter for creating such an important, powerful and worthwhile film and thank you @Channel10AU for airing it.

However, the #TheFinalQuarter reiterates just how well spoken and intelligent Adam Goodes is and just how much integrity he has.
— Nakkiah Lui (@nakkiahlui) July 18, 2019
It will forever be heartbreaking that this man, this champion, was hounded out of the game he mastered. And profoundly dispiriting that people will continue to distort what happened to deny the racism at the heart of it all. #TheFinalQuarter #WeStandwithAdam pic.twitter.com/LIgl6bjflZ

What an extraordinary example of leadership, grace, restraint & magnificent sportsmanship is #AdamGoodes.#TheFinalQuarter @iandarlingshark

Great that people are standing with Adam Goodes now, but what about 6 years ago? We can't change the past, but we can grow. Mainstream racism is on the rise in Australia right now. In future will you be able to look back to today and be proud of where you stood? #TheFinalQuarter https://t.co/s0KFiFPh6L

Sitting there angry and outraged watching #TheFinalQuarter ? Imagine how Adam felt and think at how strong and articulate he was in every press interview. Could you have been?
— Ryan Griffen (@RyanJGriffen) July 18, 2019
My overwhelming emotion watching #TheFinalQuarter was sadness. Adam Goodes had a stellar AFL career. He’s articulate, thoughtful, strong. His “crime” was to challenge attitudes..for that he was bullied and vilified out of the game. It was so ugly. Hopefully we’ve learned from it.
— NickMcCallum7 (@NickMcCallum7) July 18, 2019
God this must have been exhausting for #AdamGoodes. How did he remain so measured? #thefinalquarter

I saw the Adam Goodes doco a while back and watching it again now. Still sickening. There's no embellishment, just a catalogue of what happened, when, & who said what. It speaks volumes. And it paints a dismal picture of how we view minorities who dare speak up for their rights.
— Rohan Connolly (@rohan_connolly) July 18, 2019
Adam must have felt so alone through this whole process. Imagine how his mother would have been feeling, seeing her son treated like that.#AdamGoodes #TheFinalQuarter
— Nathan Appo (@Elusive_Sausage) July 18, 2019
That was bloody hard to watch.

Some will be angry, some will be sad, many will in absolute disbelief at what happened to Adam Goodes in his final years playing.
You were a champion of the game Goodesy, and you deserved a lot better.#IStandWithAdam #TheFinalQuarterFilm pic.twitter.com/zmQnEH8dPa
Adam Goodes Film is such an eye opener.. shows that we all need to be educated on indigenous culture and it should start in our schooling from a young age! #TheFinalQuarterFilm #RacismStopsWithMe

Back when I first met Adam.Wanna know what he was doing? He heard a bunch of AFL young people were coming together to train from across Australia and he wanted to be there, to lead and share a session. He showed up.This is our cultureThis is Adam @theprojecttvt #TheFinalQuarterFilm pic.twitter.com/c1ihe321LR

Adam Goodes shows us the meaning of leadership, strength, grace and resilience... as a white Australian I feel shame and sadness that such a magnificent man was treated in such a way... #TheFinalQuarterFilm @iandarlingshark

I never paid attention to the Adam Goodes controversy because I thought it was all about sport. What a statesman; a living example to us all. #WeStandWithAdam #TheFinalQuarter

Besides a few moments involving Richmond, not many footy things have brought me to tears.
— Dylan Leach (@leachitup) July 18, 2019
The fact I thought back then for a bit it was footy related is highly regrettable.
Aussies can be a nasty bunch.
Adam Goodes deserved better. We can only get better. #TheFinalQuarter
GIANTS fan standing with Adam. #WeStandWithAdam

I gave up on @AFL years ago but stood with Adam this particular round at the @scg because our 2014 Australian of the Year needed a powerful reminder of how important he is to us. We’ve had this front page on the fridge door since 1 Aug 2015 to remind us of the dignity of this man when he faced racism in his workplace. His treatment had nothing to do with his superb sporting skills, it was racism. #westandwithadam #proudlysydney ♥️♥️♥️ pic.twitter.com/SSjbEM3YQq

Adam Goodes is one of the greatest AFL players this country has ever seen and he couldn’t even walk out with fellow retiring players to close a brilliant career with the praise and respect he deserved. #WeStandWithAdam

A true life highlight was meeting and speaking with Adam Goodes. Such a humble man. Tears still shed for what he went through at the end of his career. But I know he would want us all to do our part no matter how small to bring true reconciliation in this country. #FinalQuarter pic.twitter.com/FEZFeF9eLI

In face of something most will never truly understand Adam Goodes was & will always be a tower of strength & a beacon of hope, not just for indigenous Australians, but all Australians. pic.twitter.com/lMFnBpAP7E
The 2nd time I’ve watched this film & it is no less confronting, powerful & important. Our game is about belonging which cannot be achieved while still racism exists. Let’s learn from mistakes of the past & work together to stamp it out. #RacismItStopsWithMe #TheFinalQuarter
