Young Swans Isaac Heeney is a ‘real chance’ to return to this weekend’s team to tackle West Coast according to senior coach John Longmire.
Heeney was once again among the best players in Saturday’s NEAFL win over Redland at Blacktown International Sports Park.
Longmire said the Rising Star nominee was likely to make the trip to Perth to take on the Eagles.
“Issac would be a real chance, we wanted him to play another game and he came through really strongly,” Longmire said on Monday.
“He displayed really good aspects as far as what we want with and without the ball so he is a real chance to come to Perth.”
Ben McGlynn is unlikely to return to the senior side but did make a successful return from injury for the NEAFL side.
Longmire said it was important not to rush McGlynn back into the senior team with increased match time expected at the lower level this week.
“Benny pulled up ok but he will still play in the reserves again this week,” he said.
“He got through 60-70 minutes and got through the game pretty well but he will need to play another game this week and get through as well.”
Gary Rohan continues to progress well in his recovery from a hamstring injury but is expected to miss at least one more week as he recovers.
Longmire confirmed defender Jeremy Laidler was a strong chance to return against the Eagles after missing last weekend’s match with an ankle concern.
“We expect Jeremy to be a chance to play this week so we are hoping he gets through training on Wednesday and would be a chance to get back into the team.”
