McGlynn accepts three-match ban
Sydney Swans small forward Ben McGlynn has been accepted a three-week suspension from the AFL's Match Review Panel
McGlynn, who was substituted out of the game at half-time with an unrelated hamstring injury, was charged with a level five striking offence on Scully, who was also substituted out of the game following the incident.
Charge laid:
Ben McGlynn, Sydney Swans, was charged with a level five striking offence (425 demerit points, four-match sanction) for striking Tom Scully, GWS, during the first quarter of the round 16 match between the Sydney Swans and GWS, played at the SCG on Sunday July 14, 2013.
In summary, he can accept a three-match sanction with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the GWS Giants Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), high impact (three points) and high contact (two points).
This is a total of eight activation points, resulting in a classification of a level five offence, drawing 425 demerit points and a four-match sanction.
He has no existing good or bad record.
An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 318.75 points and a three-match sanction.
