The Sydney Swans moved into the top eight for the first time in 2014 with a dominant 79-point win over the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba in round seven.

While the Swans suffered some inaccuracy in front of goal in the first quarter, a four-goal burst ahead of half-time gave the visitors a 33-point lead at the long break.

The Swans then piled on ten goals to three in the second half to produce their biggest win for the season and move to a 4-3 record.

Despite key forward Lance Franklin missing the match with a knee injury, the Swans had no shortage of avenues to goal with five players kicking multiple goals for the match.

In his first full game for more than 10 months, Adam Goodes was impressive inside forward 50, with the 34-year-old booting three goals to finish the game as leading goal kicker on the field.

Speaking after the match, Swans coach John Longmire said he was impressed with Goodes’ first full outing for the season.

"He (Goodes) was on fire the first couple of minutes," Longmire said.

"We'd forgotten what he was like. It was good to see him … (and) good to get some decent game time into him.”

The coach also lauded his team’s effort to maintain their intensity and play out the full four quarters of football.

"The longer the game went, the harder we were running and finished the game off strongly.

"All of our key indicators, our tackles, our contested ball work, we kept persisting.

"We had 33 shots at goal and kept the opposition to six goals, which is not too bad."

Co-captains Kieren Jack (26 possessions, two goals) and Jarrad McVeigh (35 possessions, seven marks) were outstanding in the victory, while Dan Hannebery (31 possessions, six tackles) and Josh Kennedy (34 possessions, five inside-50s) were also impressive against the Lions.
