SYDNEY Swans coach John Longmire knew the danger presented by Fremantle's exciting teenager Nathan Fyfe heading into their round 17 clash at the SCG.

But Longmire was still powerless to stop him.

Fyfe was outstanding for the visitors, earning best-on-ground honours in Fremantle's 15.8 (98) to 13.9 (87) victory that took it to sixth on the AFL ladder.

Fyfe, who made his debut in round five last year after being a second round draft pick in 2009, finished with 31 possessions, 22 of which were contested, eight clearances, five marks, four tackles and three inside 50s.

Alex Johnson, Craig Bird and Nick Smith all tried their hands at containing Fyfe, but to no avail.

Longmire believes at just 19 years old, Fyfe is already one of the best players in the AFL

"We knew going into the game that Fyfe's a really good player," Longmire said afterwards.

"We tried a number of players on him and he beat them.

"We had three or four different players going through that part of the ground and he's just a really good player now. He's one of the better players in the competition.

"He's a hard-running midfielder at a good size that can take a strong overhead mark.

"He's a very good player."
