Key forward Lance Franklin believes it'll take an even contribution from the entire playing group to defeat ladder-leaders GWS in Sydney Derby XIII on Saturday night.

After starting the season 0-6, the Sydney Swans have won eight of their past nine matches, but Franklin, who now leads the Coleman Medal race on 43 goals for the season courtesy of his three goals against the Suns, knows his side will need to step it up again to reverse a three-game losing streak against their cross-town rivals.

In a rare instance but a positive for the Swans, Franklin was almost a support act to Gary Rohan who booted five majors to go with his 16 disposals, nine marks, eight inside 50s and 12 score involvements in one of his best performances for the Club.

Franklin praised Rohan post-match for his influence and implored the speedster for more ahead of Saturday's blockbuster at Spotless Stadium.

He didn't stop there, declaring that it'll take a four-quarter effort from each and every one who takes the field against the Giants.

"It’s really good when we get others kicking goals as well," Franklin said of last weekend's effort.

"Gaz stepped up to kick five, Georgey (George Hewett) kicked a couple and Reidy (Sam Reid) chipped in as well.

“It was a good team effort, everyone got on the scoreboard which is nice.

"A contribution from everyone, across the field, I think that’s how we’ll win (against GWS), playing team football like we did (on Saturday night).

"If we can do what we did (on Saturday night) it'll go a long way to winning the game."

As much as Franklin's not focusing on it, it's hard to go past the potential for a old-fashioned shootout with a host of big-name forwards lining up at both ends of the ground.

Lance Franklin and Sam Reid will go head-to-head with GWS' Jeremy Cameron and Jonathan Patton, four men who could hold the key to their sides bringing home the all-important four points.

GWS, behind ladder-leaders Adelaide only by percentage, is the fourth highest scoring team in the competition with Cameron (41 goals for the season) hot on Franklin's tail in the race for the Coleman Medal.

It's been Patton, however, who's fired in recent weeks, kicking 15 goals in the past four games.

"I'm not really thinking about that," Franklin said of the battle of the forwards.

"I'm thinking about the win, we go into the game only thinking about the win."

Franklin has kicked 26 goals in his nine encounters with GWS including three in the Round 5 clash at the SCG.
