Swans confirm charity and community partners for 2013
The Sydney Swans are pleased to confirm Redkite, beyondblue, Cerebral Palsy Alliance and the Goodes-O’Loughlin (GO) Foundation as the club’s charity and community partners
The Swans and Redkite have been partners for more than a decade.
Each year, the Swans match against Fremantle is played for the Redkite Cup, while prior to the main game, the Redkite celebrity match is held to raise awareness for the organisation which supports children and young people living with cancer and provides practical assistance for their families through the entire cancer journey.
beyondblue and the Swans join forces in 2013 to increase awareness, reduce stigma and improve the treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders and related mental disorders.
beyondblue’s work is aimed at achieving an Australian community that understands depression and anxiety, empowering all Australians, at any life-stage, to seek help.
Also new for 2013, the Swans will partner with the Cerebral Palsy Alliance to help raise awareness and enhance the lives of people with cerebral palsy and enable their full participation in the community.
Cerebral palsy is a permanent condition affecting movement, caused by damage to the developing brain. One in three children with cerebral palsy cannot walk, one in five cannot talk and one in two experiences chronic pain.
The Swans are also pleased to partner with the Goodes-O’Loughlin Foundation, founded by Swans champions Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin.
The foundation’s aim is to develop and empower the next generation of Indigenous role models in Australia.
The GO Foundation has three broad areas of focus: Education, Employment and Healthy Lifestyles. Under each category the Foundation has developed tailored programs aimed at children, students, and young adults.
