The Swans are confident they have what it takes to overcome the club’s latest injury setbacks ahead of their Round 6 clash against Gold Coast Suns on Saturday.
Sydney will be without star forward Lance Franklin and gun ruckman Tom Hickey for the trip north, but Sam Reid believes the depth at the club has the team prepared for any scenario.
“You go into a season expecting to use a lot of your list. Injuries are going to happen now and then," Reid said.
"Will [Hayward] is a good example of guys underneath that are showing good form, they can come in and play a role and to have an impact like he did on the weekend, we expect those guys coming in to play their role to continue to do that and that will hold us in good stead.
"We’re expecting anyone that comes in to come in and play a really specific role and help us win."
When pressed on who will fill the void of Franklin and Hickey, Reid is backing any player that comes into the side to rise to the occasion.
“I don’t think we base our game on individual brilliance so much, everyone is really clear on what they need to do once they’re in the side," Reid said.
"Hayden McLean and guys like that have shown they can do it, we’re confident that whoever comes in can fill a role.”
The Swans will be looking to bounce back against the Suns after a narrow loss to the Giants in the Sydney Derby last week. The team spent the week reviewing the game as a whole as they look to bounce back from the 2-point loss.
"There was a lot of learnings that came out of the entire game, not just that final few minutes," Reid said.
"We’ve had two weeks now where we’ve had really close games, obviously last week we would have liked to have been on the other end of it and stuck out a win but we did the week before. Whether we win or lose we continue to learn each week."
