Ruckman Callum Sinclair played his first game of the season in Round 6 against the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday.

Whilst the result wasn't favourable, the 31-year old said the side will learn from it and will look to improve and keep moving forward.

"We reviewed the game in a fair bit of detail and will put our hands up and say we weren't exactly impressed with the performance," Sinclair said.

"But in saying that, full credit to the Suns who put the pressure on all day and outplayed us."

Prior to Sinclair's first game in the seniors for season 2021, he played in Sydney's first VFL match the week before with the side recording a win against the Giants by 26 points.

The VFL side also suffered a loss to the Suns in their Round 2 match on Saturday but Sinclair said there's plenty of talent at the next level down, with a handful of players putting the pressure on for spots in the senior side.

Dylan Stephens (32 disposals), Sam Gray (33 disposals), Ryan Clarke (32 disposals) and Colin O'Riordan (31 disposals) were among the Swans that impressed.

"The depth of the squad is very impressive at the moment," Sinclair said.

"There's a lot of guys in the VFL performing very well. Joel Amartey has had some really consistent form over the last few weeks, Ryan Clarke is absolutely nailing it in the midfield and across the board, there's a whole lot of guys that are knocking the door down and putting their hand up for selection so it's a good position for the club to be in."

With the Swans senior side starting the season with four wins but then back-to-back losses against the Giants and the Suns, Sinclair believes it's just about the young side finding some consistency.

"The first month the boys were playing some incredible footy and you saw the impact of the younger players and it's exciting for the future of the club," Sinclair said.

"The challenge now is to remain consistent and after the last couple of weeks it's to just wheel back the momentum we had in the first month of the year.

"Coming into this week against Geelong will be a really good challenge for us. We have had some really good games against them in the past.

"It's never an easy game against them but it will be exciting to play at home and seeing the red and white at the SCG on Saturday."
