Volkswagen and the Sydney Swans have been supporting communities across Australia since 2015 via a dedicated grassroots grants program. Over this period over $140,000 in grants have been awarded to more than 55 local AFL clubs nationally. These funds have helped provide new footballs, uniforms, training equipment and facility improvements to community clubs in need.
The Volkswagen Footy Assist program in 2021 will give clubs the chance to get back on their feet after the devastating impacts of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Footy clubs are the heart of many communities around Australia, and we need to make sure they survive to continue to grow the game of AFL, nurture the development of future AFL talent and keep thousands of footy dreams alive.

Applications are open to any non-professional AFL club from Thursday 8th July 2021 – Wednesday 8th September 2021.

What is the Volkswagen Footy Assist Program?
The purpose of the Volkswagen Footy Assist program is to provide AFL clubs all across Australia the opportunity to win a share of $50,000.
Volkswagen and the Sydney Swans understand the hardship clubs have had to face particularly during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and want to give back to not only the club but the wider community.
Through this program AFL clubs can use the money for facility upgrades, equipment, training programs or subsidising registration fees.
Why have the Sydney Swans created the Volkswagen Footy Assist program?
The Sydney Swans along with Major Partner Volkswagen are committed to growing the game of AFL nationally and acknowledge the role community footy clubs play.
Who can enter?
Any local AFL club that is a non-professional and not for profit organisation in Australia.
What are some tips to help with my entry?
The grants will be awarded to clubs that are deemed to be most in need of assistance as determined by the Sydney Swans and Volkswagen. The eligibility of each application will also be reviewed against the Terms and Conditions.
What can I do with the grant if I am successful?
If you are successful in receiving grant funding you can use the money for any of the following: facility upgrades, equipment, training programs or subsidising registration fees.

Applications will be open from Thursday 8th July 2021 – Wednesday 8th September 2021, with successful applicants notified on Wednesday 15th September 2021.
