The Sydney Swans are set to back an all-important initiative supporting NSW drought relief and the North Ryde Dockers, whose clubhouse was last week wiped out by fire.
Entry will be free for Sydney’s opening JLT Community Series fixture against GWS at Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday night, but fans are encouraged to support the two vital causes via a gold-coin donation at the gate.
A portion of the funds raised will contribute to replacing thousands of dollars’ worth of the Dockers' facility, equipment, guernseys and memorabilia, and donations can also be made HERE.
Swans Community Engagement Manager David Reis has called for everyone to get behind the Dockers.
“We were shocked to hear about the damage to North Ryde’s clubhouse last week, right on the eve of the new season. The Dockers are a much-loved local footy club who are now facing a number of challenges, so we are urging all Swans fans to jump online and donate,” Reis told Swans Media.
“We are confident the entire Sydney football community can come together and give generously, so the local boys and girls in Ryde can get on the park and continue playing and training.”
The Swans have been quick to show the Dockers their support, with Josh Kennedy, Jarrad McVeigh and Kieren Jack visiting the club at last week’s AFL Community Camps.
