The Sydney Swans recruited Ryan Clarke from North Melbourne ahead of season 2019 – following a 2015 AFL Draft selection – and he’s since shown promising signs as an exciting midfielder. The number four is a prolific ball-winner and can also be used to blanket a star on-baller, which he proved in shutting down gun Kangaroo Shaun Higgins and classy Magpie Steele Sidebottom in seasons gone by, just to name a few. Clarke managed just three senior games in 2021, but such was his stunning form in the VFL squad, that he made the cut in coach John Longmire’s best 22 earning the club 10 wins across his 14 appearances last year.
