The Swans, who are set for a third consecutive preliminary final on Friday night at ANZ Stadium, will come up against Kangaroos side playing in their first preliminary final since 2007.
On the eve of his 350th AFL game, Goodes said he expected the Swans would benefit from having more finals experience on Friday night.
“We’re pretty relaxed to be honest,” Goodes said.
“It’s another beautiful day up here in Sydney and we’ve got about half-an-hour of skills today and we’ll get ready for Friday night.
“The thing we’ve got in our back pocket is that we have been here in the last couple of years and we know how to prepare and what to do to get ourselves right for the big clash on Friday night.
“We need to make sure we come all guns blazing, and we’ve had the week off, so there is no reason why we shouldn’t come out all guns blaring.”
North Melbourne will field a strong team on Friday night, which will include club veteran Brent Harvey, who was cleared to play at Tuesday night’s Tribunal hearing.
Goodes said regardless of Harvey’s inclusion, the Swans already expected to face a fit and firing North Melbourne side, who have proved their mettle in recent weeks with six wins on the trot.
“We were always prepared for North Melbourne to bring their best team up,” Goodes said.
“With Boomer back in, that just makes that more clear now that they’ve got their best team coming to Sydney.
“You hear how confident the boys are down there at North Melbourne and they should be, because they’ve won the last six games.
“We’re just looking forward to them bringing their best and us bringing our best and we’ll see what happens.”
The Swans have met North Melbourne on just one occasion this season, a 43-point loss at the SCG back in April.
Goodes, who did not play in round four, echoed the sentiment of his team mates earlier this week suggesting that the Swans’ early season loss to the Kangaroos would have no bearing on Friday night.
“I think anyone who has been watching the way we’ve played in the last 15-to-16 rounds would know we’re a different team (to round four) with the way that we play,” Goodes said.
“I think North Melbourne play differently as well.
“You’re talking about a game that’s happened nearly 18 rounds ago, so teams change, and I think the biggest thing for us is that we’re in good form, they’re in good form, and it’s going to be a cracking preliminary final at ANZ Stadium.
“Hopefully everyone can get behind it.”
With a spot in the 2014 AFL Grand Final on the line on Friday night, Goodes said his 350-game milestone would mean nothing if the Swans didn’t get over the line.
“Obviously playing in my fifth prelim is the thing I’m looking forward to most, and it just happens to fall on the 350, which is a big number that’s for sure,” he said.
“I’ll tell you 350 means a lot going into hopefully another Grand Final, that’s for sure.
“You only remember those milestone games when you win them.”
